With some assistance, perform complex setups and machining operations on parts requiring strict geometric tolerances and finishes. Machine a wide range of exotic materials. Machine parts requiring critical, unique processes with few mistakes.

Safely operate various machine tools. Regularly use a variety of complex measuring equipment.

Independently and efficiently run a few different work areas and provide training to others in those work areas.

Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret engineering drawings, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to read, write and interpret business correspondence, procedure manuals, work instructions. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • Perform advanced machining operations including threading, multiple angles, long turning or boring, milling, etc. with limited supervision or instruction

  • Perform setups on complex parts involving irregular shapes that are difficult to hold with limited supervision or instruction

  • Independently calculate speeds and feeds for a wide range of exotic materials

  • Accomplish tasks independently with limited supervision or instruction

  • Proficient computer skills for accessing and navigating systems including Oracle, LMS, PMP, ISOquest, email, etc.

Preferences:

Education Preferred:

Associates degree or equivalent; or four to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Beneficial Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Strong product knowledge, programming skills
