Position Requirements:

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, statistics or related discipline required

  • Master’s degree/MBA preferred

  • 5+years primary/syndicated competitive intelligence/research experience

  • 5+ years online research experience

  • 8+ years data analytics, modeling and reporting experience

  • Background in knowledge management a plus

  • Previous sales enablement and/or channel marketing experience a plus

  • Strong communicator

  • Able to take customer and competitor insights and weave them into critical b-to-b sales, marketing, product deliverables (e.g. market analyses, requirements documents)

Position Description:

Basic Function:

The customer and competitive intelligence lead is responsible for developing and executing competitive intelligence and customer intelligence programs analysis with both internal and external partners/resources. This position will report to the Director of Market and Business Intelligence.

  • Develop and implement processes, procedures and policies to improve data gathering, competitive intelligence, as well as customer and bookings analysis and dissemination

  • Develop mechanisms to deliver information, including comparison grids, competitive profiles/snapshots and dashboards

  • Develop and maintain weekly or biweekly “CI bulletin” with specific KPIs and metrics for Flowserve executives and other business leaders

  • Select vendors and manage projects outsourced to third-party suppliers of primary and secondary research

  • Establish “early warning” system for key audiences that identifies new market forces, new regulations and competitive landscape changes

  • Develop surveys, interviews, focus group guides and usability studies that can be conducted with either external partners or internal constituents

  • Adopt and institutionalize standard analysis and assessment models (e.g. Porter’s Five Forces)

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Provide actionable, fact-based intelligence and insight that align with objectives, goals and business decisions

  • Analyze and package quantitative and qualitative information for distribution

  • Publish “CI bulletin” with specific KPIs and metrics

  • Provide insight to key business leaders regarding new market forces, new regulations and competitive landscape changes

  • Provide competitive intelligence hotline capabilities or “competitive assassins” to assist sales resources
