High School diploma.
Five-plus years of progressive experience and responsibility as a maintenance supervisor leading people in an industrial manufacturing environment.
Sound knowledge of construction, facilities, trades, equipment, physical plant systems maintenance and operations.
Ability to successfully manage projects.
Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
Strong math, reasoning, organizational, troubleshooting and decision-making skills.
Good computer skills. Must have experience with Microsoft Outlook and Office applications.
Able to perform the physical requirements of the job. Includes: sitting at desk and working on computer; standing, walking, lifting, pushing, pulling, squatting, bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching, climbing ladders or stairs, and working at heights.
Able to lift up to 50-pounds without mechanical assistance.
Work outdoors under all types of weather conditions.
Able to work in an un-air conditioned plant during the summer.
Able to assist with shoveling and spreading surface treatment chemicals during snow events.
Understand role responsibilities and support manufacturing operations through the competent supervision of skilled maintenance personnel and trades. The Maintenance Supervisor is accountable for problem solving and overseeing the day-to-day work of maintenance staff and contractors to ensure safe, efficient operations of all equipment and facilities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Demonstrate safety leadership. Follow all Company and OSHA policies and procedures. Make certain maintenance personnel attend and complete all required safety training on time.
Schedule and direct maintenance personnel to ensure the efficient completion of all maintenance and repair activities.
Develop and implement effective plans to minimize breakdowns and maximize equipment up-time.
Manage critical spare parts inventory.
Maintain accurate, organized records.
Develop and implement plans to improve departmental efficiency.
Effectively coordinate the necessary resources to resolve problems in a timely, cost-effective manner.
Maintain a preventative maintenance schedule.
Understand Flowserve personnel policies, collective bargaining agreement and disciplinary action procedures.
Provide ongoing coaching and feedback to employees regarding their performance.
Review and approve timesheets. Maintain accurate attendance records.
Ensure that all employees receive adequate training to perform quality work in a safe, efficient manner.
Conduct regular departmental meetings as a communication forum for safety, work order backlog, informational and status updates, performance obstacles, conflict resolution, resource issues, scheduling conflicts, etc.
Actively participate in monthly Safety Committee meetings.
Supervise outside contractors and service providers ensuring safety and scope of work compliance.
Supervise new equipment installations and decommissioning of old equipment.
Drive front line accountability. Maintain a high level of shop floor visibility and availability. Provide active, ongoing follow-up to make certain all work is accurately completed on time.
Regularly meet with Maintenance Manager and escalate unresolvable matters.
Manage projects as assigned.
Hydraulics, pneumatics, motors, 480VAC/3-phase systems, cranes, gears, pumps, belts, bearings, lubricants, rigging, basic machine shop equipment and functions.
Basic familiarity with electronics, PLCs and CNC controllers, VFDs. National Electrical Code. NFPA 70E Arc Flash.
Read and interpret blueprints, assembly/mechanical drawings, wiring diagrams, ladder logic, P&IDs, specifications, etc.
Associate or Applied Science degree.
Basic financial understanding.
Unionized workforce/collective bargaining experience.
Experience with Continuous Improvement and Lean Manufacturing practices.
Virginia DPOR Master or Journeyman electrical license.
