Position Requirements:

To perform the following activities for large, high energy, horizontal and vertical Centrifugal and Twin Screw specialty pumps, to handle pure liquid, slurries and/or multiphase Crude Oils, Hydrocarbons, Chemicals, Toxic fluids, and Water, for Transfer and Process applications, for O&G, Chemical, Mining and Power Industries, with their associated trains package components (driver components, sealing and lube oil systems, structural components, etc.):

A. Flexible, adaptable team work to guarantee meeting customer requirements, willing to cover any lacking information or resources, by dedicating the appropriate time to identify the specific requirements and priority of tasks;

B. Review customer specifications related to technical acceptability and advice on design changes;

C. Select existing commercial or specify/design components and packages to fit customer's requirements and specifications;

D. Perform engineering analysis to the components of the project, alone or with assistance support from others in the organization, on hydraulics, deflection/stress, rotational/structural vibration responses, taking ownership for expediting the analyses and the potential requirements to modify or replace the components;

E. Create assembly and manufacturing drawings of packages and components, with their BOMs, required to convey design information to Manufacturing and/or external suppliers;

F. Create design and quality requirements specifications for all components of the projects;

G. Release into the ERP/MRP system the appropriate information to guarantee the appropriate quality and timely delivery to the projects;

H. Guarantee the use of the best engineering practices, including Flowserve engineering and industry standards;

I. Provide specifications, drawings, bills of materials, procedures and documentation required for the projects;

J. Identify and apply new design opportunities to enhance product lines, increasing safety, reliability, efficiency, interchangeability, and/or reducing the product cost and/or lead times;

K. Use/Review/Improvement/Development of technical information and documentation packages for standardized equipment;

L. Use /Review/Improvement/Development of Standard Work Instructions;

M. Use / Review/Improvement of Standard User Instructions Manuals;

N. Standardize design for pump product train package's features such as support base plates, equipment guards, supporting sealing and lube oil systems' piping;

O. Use/Review/Improvement/Development of Standard Work Instructions for Pumps Performance Testing, for contract and research jobs;

P. Customize report development within MRP system.

Q. Use/Review/Improvement/Development of Standard medium level software for engineering calculations (Excel spreadsheets including macros);

R. Eventual work to execute or support identifying alternate sources to procure components, estimate costs and times, adjust project plans and programs of execution, follow up and expedite suppliers, and other tasks normally assigned to other members of the team;

Position Description:

Qualifications and Profile

1. Mechanical or Mechatronics Bachelor Engineering degree with basic knowledge of Engineering Mechanics, Vibrations, Solids Mechanics, Materials, Fluid Mechanics, and Heat Transfer is a minimum must. Master specialization is a premium asset;

2. 3-5 years of experience of applicable or similar working knowledge of rotating equipment (pumps, turbines, compressors, engines) packages and/or piping systems projects is a must;

3. Customer focus attitude to meet internal and external customers´ expectations is a must;

4. Safety oriented, understanding the implications of design decisions on safety, and abiding all industry standards and Flowserve policies on safety, is a must;

5. Able to identify and manage risks without becoming a hurdle to projects due to excessive conservatism, or lack of the ability to quantify the risks and to implement mitigation actions, is a must;

6. Quality oriented, understanding of the importance of appropriate, timely, expeditious, assertive and effective communications, to meet appropriate expectations on quality, is a must;

7. Able and interested, with the right attitude, to investigate and learn on the solution of any specific problem opportunity, and also learning from mistakes, is a must;

8. Capability to proactively, timely investigate, understand and interpret the appropriate industry standards required to meet internal design expectations, and to properly communicate and document with customers to define and agree on the actual requirements, is a must;

9. Responsive, dynamic, proactive, able to identify and to focus on the timely response to first priority tasks, looking to remove projects´ hurdles and to meet deadlines, is a must;

10. Vocation to focus on the resolution and closure of any specific task and/or issue up to the Proficient, fluent management of verbal and written communications in English, is a must. Experience working with global multinational teams´ projects is a premium asset;

11. Working knowledge of ANSI, HI, ASTM, API and ASME standards applicable to pumps, mechanical seals, pressure vessels, piping and package related components is an asset;

12. Working knowledge of instrumentation and control engineering, able to interpret and develop PFDs, P&IDs and EWDs is a premium asset;

  1. Proven experience with software including:

n Excellent handling of Microsoft Office tools, specially Excel (mandatory), is a must;

n Design-drafting tools such as AutoCad Inventor (1 st choice), is a must;

n Knowledge and use/interpretation of structural/thermal/CFD FEA results, is a premium asset;

n MRP/ERP system handling, is an asset;

Basic knowledge of planning, costs estimation, project management tools is a premium asset;
